Translators and Interpreters

Our freelance/ subcontract interpreters are carefully assessed by their educational level, cultural background and experience in the field of interpreting, and by prior translation services. AZ Language Solutions requires that interpreters have a minimum of one year interpreting experience. During the interview, we contact references and follow up with the references they provide. All interpreters are required to take assessment through a third-party oral test company that we are contracted with called ALTA Language Services. The company (ALTA) assesses both language proficiency (using the nationally-recognized ILR scale) and interpreting skill and sends us their test results as part of the hiring process. We expect all of our interpreters to equally be proficient in both languages. They must be familiar with the local slang expressions in both languages that they interpret. We expect all of our interpreters to continuously enhance their level of interpreting by attending educational program organizations and/or associations such as Arizona Translators and Interpreters and Arizona Court Interpreters Association.
